Being involved in the community is a hallmark of Dyson College of Arts and Sciences.  Our faculty and students are making genuine contributions to a variety of governmental agencies and nonprofits, as well as advocating for important, worthy causes, all with the goal of helping to make real change happen to better the communities that surround Pace’s campuses.

In this issue you will see a video of Layne Davis ‘25, Peace and Justice Studies, Political Science double major, deliver a statement on disarmament and international security to the United Nations General Assembly First Committee in October.  We are so proud of the poise and command of the topic that Layne exhibited!

Herein are stories of faculty/student projects in the community.  One centers on how the Environmental Studies and Science program faculty and students assisted with an assessment of a public park’s environment, providing much needed research that assisted the park leadership with planning decisions.  The other story provides an inside look at the strong legacy the Public Administration master’s program is so proud of, where faculty and students are closely engaged with the local communities on several projects that are faculty-led, community-engaged research, which will provide necessary data that leads to policymaking supported by that research.

Notably, these projects are most often requested by community leaders, based on the excellent reputation of our Environmental Studies and Science and Public Administration programs’ faculty and students.

If you have news you wish to share with the Dyson Community, please contact Angela Nally ’99, ‘06, assistant dean for communications, at anally@pace.edu.

Sincerely,
Tresmaine R. Grimes, PhD
